Meet the Academy Committee Members

Mr Ed Laccohee: Chair of Academy Committee

I am a local businessmen and employer of young people. I became a Governor as I wanted to fully understand the educational process, the structure and experience that young people will have embraced prior to working with companies like mine.

Being a governor at Cheam Fields Primary Academy is a privilege. I hope that the skills I bring to the board are constructive and helpful towards the forward thinking nature of the school.

Mr Craig Edmunds: Co-opted Academy Committee Member

Craig Edmunds is a social care manager for the local authority whose team offers intensive 1:1 support for young people at risk of exclusion from school or placement breakdown within the home. Craig believes in equality for all, particularly the workplace and has been the chairperson for Sutton's Unison branch for approx 4 years, acting as vice chair and steward prior to this. He is active in the community and coaches kickboxing to children and adults. Craig thinks that collaboration is paramount and that together, exploring and challenging our ideas, we give ourselves the best chance of finding great outcomes for our children.

Marie-Luiza de Menezes

My partner and I have two boys at CFP in yrs 1 and 4. I’m the Operations Director for the Royal Economic Society with over 25 years experience specialising in organisational development. I want to invest my skills and experience to find collaborative ways for each group that makes up the school, to be the best they can be.

Whether it is empowering the children to see the achievement in their work, enabling parents to feel invested in the school, being inquisitive with the leadership team on how to approach its challenges, exploring ways to enable teachers the capacity to focus on teaching, and really valuing the integral support staff who make it all tick behind the scenes, I would like to play my part as a Parent Academy Committee Member.

I’m proud of my mixed heritage and embrace diversity in all its forms, including my own quirky family.

Nicola Roberts

I am a parent of Year 6 and Year 3 children at Cheam Fields Primary Academy. After recently leaving teaching in the classroom and taking on a leadership role as Primary Assistant Maths Hub Lead, I now have time to make a commitment to my children's school,

I understand the commitment and importance that the governing body plays within the school. I aim to work with the school to support their strategies, but also have the inquisitiveness to question and analyse their decisions. I have lots of experience working as part of a team as well as knowledge of education, the curriculum, special needs and safeguarding.
